Description

In 1962, Castello di Monsanto was established by Fabrizio Bianchi. Located in the heart of the Chianti Classico denomination in the province of Florence, the estate is known as one of the finest jewels of the Chianti Classico zone. Bianchi worked to clear the most perfect hillside vineyard he named “Il Poggio”, which would be utilized for production of the first single vineyard reserve wine ever made in Chianti Classico.

Castello di Monsanto has been sought out by Wine Spectator Magazine and has received their “Top 100” accolade twice for their flagship Chianti Classico Riserva wine.

Today, Fabrizio Bianchi and his daughter Laura represent the tradition and elegance that have been associated with the estate throughout its existence. ‘Il Poggio’ was not just an innovation back in 1962: it truly represented a new vision for Chianti Classico.

Ray Isle of Food and Wine Magazine pinned Laura Bianchi as one of the “7 Female Italian Winemakers You Should Know” he said, “The 500-acre Castello di Monsanto estate in Chianti Classico was the first to produce a single-vineyard cru, its renowned Il Poggio bottling. Bianchi, whose family founded the property in 1962, started helping in her family's Chianti vineyards at age seven. Today she's both the winemaker and the proprietor.”

Join Laura Bianchi in a very exclusive vertical tasting of her award-winning Chianti Classico Riserva “Il Poggio” dating back to 1968.
